Navajo Code Talker | R.C. Gorman

Navajo Code Talker is a 1978 bronze by R.C. Gorman.  Created in an edition of 10 at Editions Press, San Fransisco, CA.

This Editions Press Impression (EPI) is from the collection of Katherine Rust (1928-2015) whose motto in life was "to give back". Through her life she aided in conservation, fundraising, and education. In the 1960s, she used her gift for fundraising to help United Way and the Santa Fe Opera, following a destructive fire. She also served as a judge for both the Santa Fe Indian Market and Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. In 1971, she stood alongside the Taos Pueblo Governor and Tribal Council during their successful efforts to petition the protect and return of the sacred Blue Lake.
